This is NOT a credit card, but can be setup up to use with one of your EXISTING credit cards or DEBIT cards! (meaning it will come straight from an account you already use!) The Speedpass is easier and MORE SECURE then your regular credit cards!

Have you ever gone into a Mobil or Exxon and wondered what a “Speedpass” is? I always did. I wondered why people would use it and how it worked that you didn’t have to slide a card to make your purchase! If you are curious about that or about how to save an EXTRA 15¢ per gallon read below….

Now is the time to sign up for the Speedpass if you a frequent visitor at Mobil or Exxon gas stations! Your Speedpass (in the form of either a key tag or car tag) is a “contactless” payment system that provides you a way to pay for purchases at participating Exxon and Mobil stations nation-wide. Through June 30th, you can save 15¢ per gallon in the form of a rebate (up to a maximum of 100 gallons or however many gallons you may use in a 60 day time period) when you use your Speedpass device.

Here’s what you need to do….

  • Once you sign up and receive your Speedpass device(s) in the mail, simply log into My Account to activate your device(s), then click on the “Submit” button where the promotional offer is displayed on your “My Profile” page
  • The credit amount of 15¢ per gallon will be one lump sum, placed on your credit/debit card statement when you reach 100 gallons or after 60 days, whichever comes first.
  •   You have until 6/30/2011 to register for this offer. Then you have 60 days from the day you registered to save 15¢ per gallon.
  • THIS EXCLUDES NEW JERSERY AND LOUISIANA RESIDENTS, BUT AS PICTURED BELOW THEY ARE RUNNING ANOTHER PROMOTION FOR THOSE STATES! Excludes business and fleet card accounts. Allow minimum of 90 days to receive rebates.

The Speedpass is available in 2 different ways: a key tag or a car tag.

*The Speedpass Key Tag (as pictured above) is a small hand-held device about 1.5 inches long that can hang on your key ring. It uses a radio frequency reader located in gasoline pumps, convenience store terminals, and car wash kiosks to communicate with the transponder located in your Speedpass key tag. Each device has a unique identification and security code that is transmitted to the reader when you make a purchase, and then your purchase is automatically charged to the credit or debit card linked to your Speedpass device. Click hereto see a demo about how it works. How cool is that!

*The Speedpass Car Tag is a small, square device that discreetly fits inside the rear window of your car, on the same side as your fuel door. Just like the Speedpass Key Tag, the Car Tag also activates the Speedpass technology. At Exxon and Mobil stations where Speedpass is accepted, you can use your car tag at all Mobil fuel pumps nationwide and at Exxon fuel pumps only in New Jersey.
