About ATW

Howdy! I am Brittany, also known as A Trucker Wife. I am a housewife and mother of two beautiful girls! Yes, you should pray for my husband since he now lives in a home with only females. :]

I am the middle child and I too grew up in a house full of girls. (This is why I know you should pray for my husband).

I started this blog for many reasons, but my main goals are to keep myself on track with honoring God with my finances, helping others do the same, and balance this with my day to day life as a mother and wife.

I met my husband in middle school, and fell in love with him in high school. We have always been friends, and he is definitely my best friend.

Our Story goes something like this:

I asked him to prom (yes, unconventional – I know! I still tease him about this!) My intentions were to only go as friends because before we dated we had been friends for a long time. However, my husband won my heart after only spending a few months together riding in his pick up, going to bon fires, mud runs, hunting, fishing, camping, and rarely spending a minute much less a day away from one another.

Oh, but how did I become a Truck Driver’s Wife?! My husband was once in the construction industry and only recently has become a truck driver. As most people know… the economy has not been good to the construction industry, (or much of any industry for that matter) so my husband and I talked over all the options we had for other work, and/or staying with construction. We decided that truck driving would be the quickest career switch, and that down the line having his CDL would be something worth having even if he hated trucking. Boy did we get some weird looks and strange questions when we made this decision. People definitely stereotype truck drivers, and I still must say that my husband has met some characters on the road!

My husband has now been a truck driver for less than a year and does enjoy it; with the exception of the time he spends away from us. However, his company is very good about getting him home pretty often and keeping him close to home too.

Now I live in the middle of nowhere, and I spend my days wrangling children & dogs, cleaning up poop (cause trust me when you have kids & dogs… it’s never ending lol), wiping noses, coming up with crazy crafts and ideas to keep my active 2 year old entertained, couponing, being as spend thrifty and frugal as I can, and taking pictures of everything my kids do. Oh, and did I mention cleaning up poop?! Time went so fast sometimes I don’t remember how I got here, but you know what!?!? I LOVE IT! Don’t tell anyone though! :]

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it

  1. I belong to this website and I try to post my kids gently used clothes on there as much as possible. You can’t charge anything for the items you post. You can post any household, personal, outdoor item that you don’t need and someone that NEEDS your item and really can’t afford to purchase it can come and pick it up. Check it out. Great way to recycle used but still good items.

I’m so glad I found this site. I was thinking of starting ATW deal site, but I just don’t have the time. I am marrying a trucker next month!

    • I am so happy to meet another frugal TW!! I hope that my site is helpful to you, and your new husband! Congrats on your wedding!! Let me know if there is ever something you are looking for and I will keep an eye out!! 🙂
